In this lush depiction of the Aztec Goddess Xochiquetzal she is flanked by two powerful jaguars, one black the other spotted and two Mexican urns that are emitting incense smoke. As her legend says she is surrounded by butterflies and birds (in this case the majestic Quetzal). In the background is a moonlit body of water over lit by a full moon just rising. Some stars are out including the constellation of Cancer. Flowering orchids and a bromeliad balance the composition by echoing some of the surrounding colors. Xochiquetzal is dressed in traditional Aztec clothing and holds an illuminated gardenia.
